In 1913, some Amish families moved to the state of California. But they left the state in a very short time, in almost 18 months. The reason for their settlement in California was a dispute between the family. However, they moved away from this state very quickly, and the first family that left California stayed for only two months.
Their departure was because the land of California where they stayed could have been rougher and harder to cultivate. This reason looks unreasonable as the climate of California is very good, and the land there is so fertile.

The Community came into being in the 1700s in Switzerland based on the teachings of Jakob Amman. The Amish name came from Jackob Amman.
The Amish are famous for their simple lifestyle, plain dresses, and traditional Christian religious background. They are very slow in adopting new technologies and innovations. The mindset behind this is to maintain family time and to replace a one-to-one conversation with something else. The Community prefers ruler life, manual labour, and hard work over technology and development. They talk in a separate language to maintain a distance from the other world so that they can focus on themselves more.
From the late 1900s, the Amish had been divided into different subgroups, mainly into two groups: old-order Amish and Amish Mennonites. When we talk about the Amish, we are talking about the Old Order Traditional Amish, who are still stuck in their traditions. The new orders have convinced themselves to buy cars and learn new technologies.
As of 2023, the population of the Old Order Amish community in the USA is almost 377000. They make a distance from the non-Amish world and label them as “English”.
The largest population of Amish in the USA is in Pennsylvania, about 87000. Ohio has the second largest, almost 82,000, and Indiana has the 3rd largest Amish population of nearly 52000.
